According to the requirements of No 3210 A Order of RA Minister of Health, issued on December 10, 2013, a Council was created responsible to control hospital-acquired infection.

Armine Andryan, a physician epidemiologist, Ph.D in Epidemiology, Associate Professor of Medicine, was appointed as coordinator of the group of preventing and monitoring hospital-acquired infection.

A program of preventing hospital-acquired infection in Gyumri Medical Center was developed and approved by the physician epidemiologist. Medical waste management procedures were also developed based on the hospital's operating characteristics and financial capacity.

A manual on the prevention of hospital-acquired infection is being created and developed which is continuously updated and supplemented. The manual presents guidelines on cleaning and disinfection of hospital building and premises, disinfection of care products, sterilization of medical instruments, precautionary rules for working with sharp objects, instructions regarding to hand washing procedures , etc.

Information on future plans of epidemiological control will be presented on regular basis.
