On September 4, 2012 the solemn opening of Gyumri Medical Center was held which marked the beginning of the introduction of modern medical care in Shirak marz, RA. Gyumri Medical Center is located in a monolithic building with high seismic stability which meets modern international standards and is unique in its kind in the marzes of Armenia.
On November 2, 2006 the RA Government passed a resolution which approved the construction project of Gyumri Medical Center. According to this resolution, it was planned to merge the surgical and therapeutic services of Shirak Provincial, Samariter and Gulbenkian Surgical Hospitals creating one multiprofile hospital in Gyumri with capacity of 210 beds and 400 staff members. The construction of medical center was carried out within the frameworks of RA Government’s ‘Balanced Regional Development' project and got financed by the World Bank's '' Health Care Systems Modernization'' project.

Gyumri Medical Center CJSC was founded on November 23, 2012 as a result of merger of RA Shirak marz's Shirak Provincial Hospital CJSC and Gyumri's G. Gulbenkian Surgical Hospital CJSC according to the RA Government’s number 1911 resolution’s (02.11.2012) N9 annex, Section ‘’City of Gyumri’’, 4th paragraph and State Register reference of the RA Minister of Justice (23.11.2012).
Gyumri Medical Center is a very modern multiprofile center with powerful diagnostic capabilities, highly equipped surgical rooms, emergency and intensive care, high quality divisions of dialysis, universal laboratory services. In addition to this, the Center provides an opportunity to conduct medical consultation with leading clinics in Yerevan and abroad.
The medical center is equipped with equipments of the latest generation, of which it is worth highlighting the computed cardiography device and angiography. The existence of those equipments for the first time provides an opportunity to carry out diagnostic and invasive therapeutic packages outside the borders of Yerevan. Moreover, the regional population will be able to get the best cardiology services on site.
Gyumri Medical Center allows the population of Shirak marz, in particular people living in Gyumri, to get high quality, modern and affordable medical services. The Center meets the requirements of developed countries.
